Notes from Trevor

Strategic Input Brief:

Issue/Partner/Partnership Rallying Point: ???

Scope/Assignment: Develop a 5-10 short film for class that could potentially be used as a film festival entry

Budget: Whatever we can beg/borrow/steal

Objectives: To encourage people who are troubled by their fears to step out and confront those fears in an active and positive manner

Target: Fearful people between ages 9 and 90

Mindset:
· Denial- The tendency is to downplay the significance of the fear and its effects on life
· Apathy- This has been a part of life for a long time, and probably can’t be changed
· Desire- At heart, there is longing to get beyond the boundary that looks insurmountable

Human Insight: Fear upsets us on multiple levels. While we are anxious about a specific thing, we are frustrated, even irritated by the fear itself and want to see it removed from our lives.

Biblical Insight: Matthew 28:20 “Behold, I am with you always, even until the end of the age.”

Barriers:
· Complacency- “My life isn’t really that bad”
· Fear Itself- “I can’t do it!”
· Frustration from Past Attempts- “Tried and failed before. Forget it.”

Strategy: Convince those who are driven by fear of failure that fear can only be conquered by facing it, because fighting in the battle to overcome (or, waging war against) fear is its own reward.

Key Persuasion: It’s worth confronting your fears, just to say you tried
